You can’t catch your breath or a break. You just want to be happy.

It’s a great idea but how are you going to do it? How are you going to find the sweet release of happiness?

How Do You Eliminate Your Stress?

Perhaps some of the solutions feel out of reach or like they will take too long. I have solutions for you. They require an open and flexible mind.

Control What You Can, Let Go of What You Cannot

The 2-part strategy (also found in the serenity prayer) is:

  1. Accept the things you cannot change and
  2. Change the things you can.

There are many ways to keep the focus on yourself, reduce your stress and find happiness. Make different choices.

Some of our greatest stressors are

  • relationships,
  • work,
  • finances and
  • health.

Somewhere in there you are avoiding an important choice.

You are probably refusing to cut spending, change your diet, stop arguing or find a new job.

You keep waiting for someone else to change, fix or realize something about themselves.

Stop Waiting and Start Taking Positive Action

There is a reason you struggle to take responsibility for your life and tend to blame others.

You Don’t Need to Convince Me About How Much Stress You Have

Let go of trying to change how I think, and focus on your mind. When other people’s thoughts and choices create stress, it’s time to practice acceptance.

  • You have no control over anyone but yourself.
  • Abandon your expectations of others.
  • Consider that “fair” is a concept that perpetuates your stress.
  • Instead of longing for things to be fair, focus on what YOU can do to improve your life.
  • Open to the idea that you are entitled to anything you create for yourself.

You can create suffering or joy. Or you can create faith or fear.
