For most of us, it is some form of “screen time”. It may be a computer, a mobile device or TV. They all create the same problem if your life lacks balance. If your seductress isn’t screen time, figure out what tempts you away from self-care. Most of us want to distract our minds.
Funny YouTube videos create an instant dopamine dump in the brain. It feels instantly good. The downside is it tells your brain that it needs instant gratification rather than doing something that promotes connection with others or longer-term satisfaction. Work-life balance is an art and it takes conscious decision making. There are times in our lives that we may need to let certain things go in order to have more balance and peace. I love to travel and in the last 2 years of my life, I haven’t done as much traveling because I was pregnant/had a new baby. Now that we have adjusted, we are finding the time and space to do more traveling. The moment you stop doing what you love, you will stop loving what you do.
